Catanico
Falls.
The
falls are about 6 miles from the City not far from Eco Village. The
falls drop into a swimming pool surrounded by huge boulders and
beautiful scenery. There are picnic areas available with cottages but
the best is sitting on top of the huge rocks with views of the falls and
the river as it meanders downstream. A great place for a picnic. |
Jasaan

Hasa-an, these falls and springs drop into man-made swimming pools with
diving board and water slides. The continuously flowing fresh cool water

Beaches
Throughout
the Philippines there are hundreds of beautiful beaches with Borocay being named
the best beach in the world. They offer unlimited aqua adventures such as diving,
dolphin and whale watching, windsurfing etc. Or find a quiet hideaway and relax
in the shade of a palm tree with an ice cold drink. |
|
There
are good swimming beaches within 30 minutes drive from the lodge and really fine
beaches 1-1 ½ hours away. |
There
are several shopping malls in the city plus many individual shops where you can
purchase local crafts. There are some very good clothes shops and you can also
buy hand made leather shoes and sandals at bargain prices. There are also 2 main
markets where everything is available from fresh fruit and vegetables to locally
caught fish,
There
are literally hundreds of places to eat, everything from the small stalls on the
street to fancy restaurants. All kinds of food are available from Philippine
dishes to western style food, and prices can be as low as 50Php ($1) for
something like barbequed chicken and rice. There are also restaurants serving
all you-can-eat buffets from 99Php ($2) Also all the usual fast foods are
available such as McDonald’s, KFC and Pizza Hut. We would advise when eating
out to only drink bottled mineral water.
There
are many clubs and bars and discos offering live music or karaoke. Filipinos are
very musical and they love to sing. Karaoke machines are found all over the city
in all kinds of establishments, from bars to the car wash. Live bands can be
heard in several clubs and bars. One of the favorite places to go is the Night
Café in Divisoria. On Friday and
Saturday nights the streets are closed and many stalls are set up selling all
kinds of food and drink, plus a wide range of other wares from shoes to jewelry.
Live bands play most of the evening. Night Café is open until 2 am. It’s a
great place to just sit with a cold drink and observe the locals who throng
there to meet and have fun. Another good venue is The Limketkai Center where
there are numerous shops, restaurants, discos and coffee bars. You can enjoy a
meal in one of the restaurants then sit outside with a coffee and listen to one
of the live bands.
If
you like adult entertainment then check out Spooks in Pacana Street. It’s
owned and run by an English guy (Mike) and a lot of ex pats meet there from
around 6pm onwards. On Friday afternoons there is an eat all you can buffet for
150 Php ($3) from 4pm until 7pm. The show starts at 9pm every night with a bevy
of beautiful girls. So for a great night out try ‘Spooks’.
