Camiguin Island is a picturesque volcanic island situated off the north coast of Mindanao. Tthe island compensates with magnificent natural scenery, seven soaring volcanoes, tiny offshore islets with good coral, hot and cold soda-water springs, crashing waterfalls and very friendly people. Aside from its natural features, Camiguin Island is also famous for its sweet-tasting lanzones. In a taste-test conducted recently in a reality-TV show, the Camiguin Lanzones was the hands-down choice as the most sweet-tasting beating those grown at Laguna and Quezon provinces.

Lanzones Festival
 A celebration of bountiful harvest celebrated every year in October with a weekend of street dancing, parade and
pageants in the town of  Mambajao. This festival includes an exhibit of agri-cottage industry products, barangay beautification, indigenous sports, tableau of local culture, grand parade of the lanzones, which is the golden and extra sweet fruit, found in the entire province of Camiguin. Lanzones is a tropical fruit that  grows abundantly on the north-central coast of Mindanao. It is said that the sweetest lanzones comes from Camiguin. Portrayed in the photographs below are typical lanzones trees found in the province of Camiguin. The lanzones fruit, which has a pale brown skin and sweet  translucent flesh,  is also shown. This fruit ripens sometime  during the third week of October.

Camiguin is a volcanic island with seven volcanoes dominating the rugged, hilly terrain. The three highest volcanoes in the province are Mt. Tempong (1,580m), Mt. Mambajao (1,420 m), and Mt. Hibok-Hibok (1,250 m). The coastline alternates between black or white sand beaches and volcanic rock. It also has the highest volcano-land area ratio among the Philippines’ 7,107 islands.
